On the move in 2002!
The MelonMan prepares the patch for another run at the world record!
By Bob Dwyer
April 4, 2002
It's that time of year again! Alot has happened over this winter. The MelonMan has moved and will be growing a smaller crop this year. Tina and I are making plans to return to our home state of Tennessee. Nitro has grown in to a handsome 14 month old 115 pound pup that keeps us busy playing and training. I hope everyone has their field ready for some new records this year! Let's get started on another record breaking attempt and remember to have some fun along the way.
Here we go breaking new ground with our trusted four-wheel-drive Kubota tractor. A 60' by 80' patch should accomodate three plants while a quick soil test reveals an acidic 6.0 pH. Forty pounds of pelletized lime broadcast over our sandy loam field may help administer the calcium our melons will need.

Our germination bed may look crude but has served us well for many seasons. We will be germinating seeds soon for the 2002 season.

We love our Shiloh Shepherd! You might like to have a Shiloh Shepard too. Visit www.shilohs.com for more information about the breed. |
