The 2001 season is over and what a successful year for The MelonMan and several other giant growers! Bill Carson still rules as the World Record holder with his 262 pound giant grown in 1990. Its time to start preparing for 2002!!!

The MelonMan finished the season with three giants over the 200 pound barrier, a new personal best. We enjoyed all the nice notes and pictures that have been shared with us this year. It's nice to hear about all the acts of kindness that fellow growers are bestowing upon their communities. Please continue sharing your stories with us so that we can share them with the world on our site. I answer all my e-mails but tend to get behind during the busy growing season. The MelonMan site is a family oriented educational expression of our love for good ole mother nature! Countless hours are devoted to maintaining this site by my good friend Mark who's been instrumental throughout my life. Get ready as we prepare for another attempt at setting a new world record in 2002.
Dean McKnight of Jefferson City, Missouri received top honors this year at the Republic Pumpkin Daze held on October 6th with this huge 190.7 pound beauty. Watch out at the State Fair for Dean in 2002.

Bill Carson is still the World Record holder with his 262 pound giant grown in 1990. Bill is a very generous man and can put a smile on your face every time he's thought of. Tina enjoys a moment with Bill in his garden.

Nitro has kept us busy this season and is growing at a very fast pace. Can you believe that our puppy is only nine months old in this picture? CYA L8TR |
