Giant Watermelons of Hope, Arkansas

Wat-A-Melon Harvest begins!

Although our World Record chance rotted leaving us with five vines, some amazing Giants are being farmed out as donations to worthy causes. We chose to set nine melons on five plants and are pleasantly shocked at how heavy these melons are weighing in. Come in and take a look.

The Cape Girardeau Missouri Veterans Home was the proud recipient of our first melon harvested this season weighing in at a whopping 200 pounds. These brave men and women deserve special recognition for giving us the ability to enjoy our hobbies in the United States.

Special thanks goes to our friends Dennis and Jo Cline for arranging this donation. Using four men minimizes your chances of loosing such a rare treat. The MelonMan, Dennis, Tony & Ronnie hoist the plumper inside.

Administrator Bruce Janssen and Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson marveled at the excitement the giant garnered.

It takes a lot of friends and muscles to harvest our giants. Several neighbors helped us load a 190 pound and a 195 pound giant into our truck. The 195 pound melon went to Memphis, Tennessee to our friend Tim Frassinelli for a school donation. Tim is a three time recipient of a giant and has helped to spread our joy to untold numbers of children.

The 190 pound melon went to Ward Feed Company in Olive Branch, Mississippi. Our friends, Keith and Terri Langley, hosted an open house party for the arrival of their giant melon. Good luck to the Langleys on your new adventure!

Mighty Nitro proudly guards all the harvested fruit for us. This 24 pound cantaloupe resembles a pumpkin, doesn't it? More donations soon!
