"Catchup" succumbs…

Root rot strikes "Catchup" in the fields. We'll be pulling it later today.

Tragedy strikes Catchup! A six-inch section of the umbilical cord that Catchup has been tethered to succumbs to rot from a quickly manifesting fungus. The green melon still had great potential but evidently wasn't meant to be a New World Record. We are assembling a group of enthusiasts for a weigh-in on a Missouri State Certified scale on Tuesday. Could it be a new state record? Is it possible it will be the largest melon grown in the world this year? Stay tuned.

One last picture of Catchup in the field shows how huge this giant is by covering The MelonMan and Tina. Any guesses to the weight of this melon?????????
